From Burnout to Reconnection :
My Epic Journey to Japan, a New
Chapter in Life
The deafening noise of Paris, the crowded streets, the social pressure, and the shouts of everyday life had exhausted me. Three burnouts later, I realized it was time to break free from the vicious cycle to find myself. My escape, my way out, was thousands of kilometers away, in the Land of the Rising Sun: Japan.
Introduction
Paris
Oh! Paris, the beautiful, the radiant, with its incredible gastronomy, its population from all corners of the globe, creating an incredible diversity in both art and history written here below. The City of Lights but also of darkness, around the corners of the streets, a syringe, an insult, the smell of urine, and garbage. "François," a renowned architect living on the streets for 10 years after cracking following a divorce followed by burnout, there like a ghost, searching with his eyes, a smile, a word, a helping hand to overcome his woes. But no, society rejects his sideways step. We could all be this François, this Fatima, this Yun, this Anna, this Amir, a sister, a friend, a relative? I saw myself in them every day; one day someone told me, you know, "Clément, it's simple, leave."
Going out, partying, dancing, getting high on life but also on substances to get out of the dark paths of my existence. Fleeing one's own reality to try to live and survive. A hypersensitive person picks up the emotions of the world around them; the environment constantly assaults me.
So it must be changed, flee to heal better and not die.
Signs of Change
The Japanese dream had always inhabited my thoughts since childhood. The culture, the animation, the food, the technology, the art, the fashion. All this fascinated me as an eternal curious. My travels had already shown me that Japan could be much more than a destination, a refuge. Human connections, Japanese politeness, seemed to be the remedy I needed.
Escape
The financial pressure of Paris led me to Switzerland, nature, incredible inhabitants, and substantial income. Three intense months of hard work allowed me to accumulate the necessary funds. There, in the heart of the mountains, I felt the pure air for the first time in years. It was a taste of the freedom to come.
The Decision
Without listening to doubts and advice from others, I dropped everything. I bought a ticket, reserved a place in a language school in Japan, and traced my own path. The departure into the unknown was exciting and frightening at the same time, but it was also the beginning of my own story.
Hypersensitivity
Japan, with its delicacy and respect for emotions, offered me a soothing environment. My hypersensitivity, once perceived as a weakness, turned into a strength in this New World.
My Passions
As an ADHD, artist, photographer, painter... fashion enthusiast, Japan sharpened my skills, revealing a creativity I didn't know I had. The streets of Tokyo were my new canvas, and every piece of clothing was an expression of my new life.
Conclusion
Japan welcomed me with open arms. Every street corner, every cherry blossom, every Japanese smile reminded me that I had made the right choice. My journey was not just geographical; it was internal. I found peace and inspiration, a new chance to live. My story continues to be written in the land of the rising sun, where each day is a new page of this exceptional chapter that I chose to write. Through this blog, I hope to reach out to those who, like me, need help emerging from the turbulent waters of everyday life. Human connections are everything, and together, we can find light even in the darkest corners of our existence.
